About the Department

The Education Department is responsible for preschool, pedagogical care, after-school centers (fritidshem), preschool class, comprehensive school (grades 1-6), adapted comprehensive school, upper secondary school, adapted upper secondary school, municipal adult education, Komvux (special education for adults), Swedish for Immigrants (SFI), youth clubs, open preschool, and music school.

Preschool and after-school activities are available at all seven F-6 schools, geographically distributed throughout the municipality.

Altorpskolan, the municipality's only 7-9 school, receives students from all our F-6 schools and is strategically located in central Herrljunga. Kunskapskällan, the municipality's upper secondary school, is also located in the town of Herrljunga.

Responsibilities

As a student assistant with us, you play a central role in creating a safe, supportive, and stimulating school environment for our youngest students. The position is a shared assignment where you work both as a student assistant, a resource in the classroom, and as part of the after-school center operations.

In your role, you work closely with teachers, after-school staff, and student health services. You provide support for individual students as well as groups, contributing to ensuring that every student has the best conditions for developing both socially and academically.

Your duties include providing individual support to students during lessons while functioning as a resource in the classroom and contributing to structure, calm, and a positive climate. You support students in social contexts such as breaks, meals, and transitions during the school day. The assignment also includes work in after-school activities, where you contribute to creating a safe, meaningful, and stimulating leisure time for the students.

You meet students with different needs and provide both pedagogical and care-oriented support. An important part of your role is helping students develop strategies for learning, structure, and social interaction. Through your work, you are a safe and present adult throughout the student's day, contributing to continuity and a holistic approach to the student's school life.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who have a genuine interest in children, learning, and development. You are relationship-building, sensitive, and confident in your interactions, and have good collaboration skills. You enjoy working closely with colleagues and contributing to a positive and inclusive work environment. You are flexible and can adapt to different situations during the day, while also having the ability to create structure, calm, and clarity for the students.

We expect you to have experience working with children in schools, after-school care, or other educational activities. Experience working with students requiring special support is an advantage. You have good ability to communicate in Swedish, both verbally and in writing, and can work both independently and in teams. You take initiative, are solution-focused, and have a professional approach when meeting students, colleagues, and guardians.
